Voices of Hope Choir Marks 10th Anniversary Celebration
The Voices of Hope Choir, a singing group of the Anchor of Hope Society of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra recently climaxed its 10th Anniversary.
At a Luncheon to celebrate the anniversary, Mr. Michael M. Ezan, President of the Choir, said it was to reflect on ten years of achievement and to honour Patrons and hardworking members for their sacrifices and contribution over the years.
He stated that the Choir was formed out of a desire of the Executives of the Society to deepen the spiritual wellbeing of the members and has since its inception ten year ago been rendering Communion Hymns on the 4th Sundays at the Cathedral; participating in the Annual Christmas Carol festivals; taking part in the Lenten Programme and Grotto Devotions and singing at the Masses of members’ weddings and various Anniversaries.
Mr. Ezan commended the Choristers for their dedication and commitment towards the activities of the group despite their old ages and busy schedules. He stated that the uniqueness of the Choir is the ages of the Choristers which is between 29 and 88 years.
The President lauded the Executives and the Patrons of the Choir for their sacrifices and financial support over the past decade. “At this stage let me thank the entire Anchor of hope Society members for rallying behind the choir since its formation”, he said.
In a brief remark, Mr. Simon Aryeetey, the Choir Prefect, said the Anchor of Hope Society was founded in 1991 to bring together all non-society members of the Cathedral. He commended Mr. Ezan for his instrumentality in the formation of the Choir in 2014.
“I wish to thank all members of the Choir (voices of Hope who in diverse ways helped to nature the choir to its present state, the choir masters for their teaching qualities in leading the choir up to its present state. I end my submission by thanking all members who have been with us since day one”, he said.
In goodwill messages, some Patrons congratulated the Choristers for their selflessness and availing their gifts to the service of the Church. They lauded members for making the choir vibrant and attractive and singing melodiously during Masses and other events.
The President of the Anchor of Hope Society, Ms. Cynthia Bulley, who chaired the event, said the Choristers, have in the past years refined their craft while building lasting friendships that have created unforgettable memories. “Your performances have touched hearts, inspired others and brought many closer together. You have faced challenges, but you have also experienced the triumphs that emanate from working hard, dedication, and a deep love for what you do as choristers”, she stressed.
She lauded the talent, commitment, and enthusiasm of the Choristers which have been the pillars of the success of the Choir. “As you move forward into the next chapter of your journey, continue to strive for excellence, to uplift each other, and to share your love of music with the world. The past ten years have been extraordinary, and we are excited to see what the future holds for you”, she concluded.
Mr. Ezan was specially honoured with his enstoolment as a Chief of the Choir and Society under the Stool name, Awulae Akobredu for his anchoring role in the formation of the Society and Choir as well as his exceptional leardership.
Some Patrons and members were also presented with Citations for their various roles in promoting the Choir and Society.
